Baby sprinkle…the first time the Milk Nursingwear team heard that term, we had a lot of fun trying to guess what it was. The trend of throwing a baby sprinkle for expectant moms started a few years ago and remains a bit controversial today.
For those of you still out of the loop, a baby shower is thrown for first time moms to “shower” them with gifts — while a baby sprinkle is thrown to just “sprinkle” them with a few necessities. Think of it as baby shower lite!
Baby sprinkles are done for kiddos two, three and so on — when moms have gotten the major gear during their first pregnancy but still could use some extras to stock up for subsequent babies. Think…a diaper and wipes party or a onesies party.
Proper etiquette for a baby sprinkle:
- No registry
- Only invite close friends and family
- Very casual affair
- Small gifts
While some folks don’t like the idea and feel it’s tacky to ask for more gifts, many others have jumped on board. If nothing else, it’s an excuse to celebrate the newest bundle of joy that is about to enter your life. It’s also a great way to get an older sibling involved and excited about their little brother/sister-to-be.
Where do you stand on this new tradition? To sprinkle or not to sprinkle?

2016 is bringing the heat. Keep cool in our summer basics.
Milk Nursingwear’s Essential nursing tank top is the perfect summer staple. It’s comfortable and easy-fit to help hide your post-partum tummy. Breastfeeding is easy, just lift the empire layer. This simple nursing tank will go with anything. We accessorized with white skinny jeans, nude wedges, bold jewelry, and a straw bag to add pops of color.
The Sleeveless crossover everyday nursing top is another of our stylish summer basics. Side slits allow for extra room in your mid-section. Nurse comfortably and discreetly by moving aside the front fabric. We’ve paired our chic pink nursing top with khaki shorts, and super cute woven sandals. A cuff bracelet and gemstone earrings take this outfit up a notch.

The first week of August is World Breastfeeding Week. 2016 is the 24th year of this celebration. Each year, from August 1st through the 7th, breastfeeding is observed around the world. The goal of WBW is to support, protect and promote breastfeeding for all women.
The World Breastfeeding Week 2016 theme is Breastfeeding: a key to Sustainable Development. In 2015, world leaders committed to 17 Sustainable Development Goals aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity by 2030. The WBW 2016 theme revolves around breastfeeding being a key element in getting us to think about how to value our well-being from the start of life and how to respect each other and care for the world we share.
“And increasingly, it is clear that breastfeeding is not only the cornerstone of a child’s healthy development; it is also the foundation of a country’s development.” — World Breastfeeding Week 2016 Message, from UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake, and WHO Director General Margaret Chan.
Milk Nursingwear has been busy behind the scenes supporting WBW celebrations across the United States by donating stylish nursing tops to events occurring coast-to-coast! From La Leche League happenings to ILCA conventions to WIC programs to birth, breastfeeding & baby fairs, Milk is supporting events nationwide with our donations.
We at Milk Nursingwear are proud to be a part of WBW. We applaud all of you organizing and attending World Breastfeeding events in your area. Enjoy the festivities!
