Sizing up our maternity and nursing bras

November 30, 2011

“How do I know if it fits?” We get this question a lot.

Many women stock up on three to four pregnancy and nursing bras but they’re unsure if they actually fit properly. Let’s face it: maternity and nursing bras can be the most confusing part of the expanding wardrobe of mammas and mammas-to-be. And wearing one that fits improperly can lead to discomfort. So we’re here to take the guesswork out of selecting the right bra.

To measure yourself for the best nursing bra fit, use a soft measuring tape (or string, which you can hold up to a yard stick later) to determine your band and cup sizes. Here’s how:

To get your band size
Measure around your body but ABOVE your breasts. This should be a SNUG measurement. Make sure that the measuring tape is parallel to the floor when taking this measurement. Round up to the nearest even number. Now take the same measurement UNDER your breasts. Round up to the nearest even number. Take the LARGER of these two measurements. This will give you your band size.

To get your cup size
Measure around your body and ACROSS your breasts at the largest part (with a bra on). This measurement should be a LOOSE measurement. The difference between this number and your band size will give you your cup size. Each 1″ difference = 1 cup size. For example, a 1″ difference = A cup; a 2″ difference = B cup; a 3″ difference = C cup, etc.

Oh, and if you get these measurements in the next four days, you can take advantage of our AMAZING BRA SALE EVENT, where you can save up to 15% on more than 20 styles of bras and camis!

What is your favorite nursing bra? Were these measuring tips helpful? We’d love to hear from you – please leave a comment and share your experiences with us.

Milk launches new line of eco-friendly bamboo nightgowns!

November 12, 2011

If you haven’t checked out our new maternity and nursing nightgowns, don’t delay!

We just launched two new Bamboo sleep gowns in our tried-and-true, proven styles: the Crossover gown and the Braided gown. They both simplify night feedings by offering an empire seam that lifts up or moves over easily for breastfeeding access.

But they aren’t exclusively for sleeping. We’ve “caught” customers wearing them around town or to lounge in their homes during the day, especially during those days early on when baby doesn’t distinguish between day and night. (Who has time to get changed come dawn?)

And, if you aren’t yet aware, Bamboo has become a highly coveted fashionable fabric for all of the great benefits it offers. It is a renewable resource (think: great for the planet!) and features anti-bacterial, breathable and naturally moisture-wicking qualities (perfect for you and baby!).

Machine washable and priced at $49, this may just become one of your wardrobe essentials. Shop now!
